【摘要】:Liquidpenetrantexaminationmethodsindicatethepresence,location,and,toalimitedextent,thenatureandmagnitudeofthedetecteddiscontinuities.Thispracticeisintendedprimarilyforportabilityandforlocalizedareasofexamination,utilizingminimalequipment,whenahigherlevelofsensitivitythancanbeachievedusingvisibleprocessisrequired.Surfaceroughnessmaybealimitingfactor.Ifso,analternativeprocesssuchaspost-emulsifiedpenetrantshouldbeconsidered,whengrindingormachiningisnotpractical.1.1Thispracticecoversproceduresforfluorescentpenetrantexaminationutilizingthesolvent-removableprocess.Itisanondestructivetestingmethodfordetectingdiscontinuitiesthatareopentothesurface,suchascracks,seams,laps,coldshuts,laminations,isolatedporosity,throughleaks,orlackoffusionandisapplicabletoin-process,final,andmaintenanceexamination.Itcanbeeffectivelyusedintheexaminationofnonporous,metallicmaterials,bothferrousandnonferrous,andofnonmetallicmaterialssuchasglazedorfullydensifiedceramicsandcertainnonporousplasticsandglass.1.2Thispracticealsoprovidesareference:1.2.1Bywhichafluorescentpenetrantexaminationsolvent-removableprocessrecommendedorrequiredbyindividualorganizationscanbereviewedtoascertainitsapplicabilityandcompleteness.1.2.2Foruseinthepreparationofprocessspecificationsdealingwiththefluorescentsolvent-removableliquidpenetrantexaminationofmaterialsandparts.Agreementbythepurchaserandthemanufacturerregardingspecifictechniquesisstronglyrecommended.1.2.3Foruseintheorganizationofthefacilitiesandpersonnelconcernedwiththeliquidpenetrantexamination.1.3Thispracticedoesnotindicateorsuggeststandardsforevaluationoftheindicationsobtained.Itshouldbepointedout,however,thatindicationsmustbeinterpretedorclassifiedandthenevaluated.Forthispurposetheremustbeaseparatecodeorspecificationoraspecificagreementtodefinethetype,size,location,anddirectionofindicationsconsideredacceptable,andthoseconsideredunacceptable.1.4Allareasofthisdocumentmaybeopentoagreementbetweenthecognizantengineeringorganizationandthesupplier,orspecificdirectionfromthecognizantengineeringorganization.1.5Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsareregardedasstandard.SIunitsgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
