【摘要】:Thispartofthestandardspecifiesamethodofdeterminingtheforterequiredtopropagateatearthroughaspecifieddistanceandfromaspecifiedslit,tutinatestspecimenofthinflexibleplasticsheetingorfilm,underspecifiedconditionsofloading.Theupperlimitofthicknessthatcanbetesteddependsonthetearingforceofthematerialinrelationtothecapacityofthetestingmachine.Materialsthatcanbetestedaccordingtothismethodincludeflexiblepoly(vinylchloride)(PVC)andpolyolefinfilms,butvariableelongationandobliquetearingeffectsonthemoreextensivefilmsmaycausepoorreproducibilityoftestresults.ThismethodmaynotbesuitablefortestingmorerigidmaterialssuchasrigidPVC,nylonandpolyesterfilms.Thetearresistancetestspecifiedbythismethodisappliedtospecimenscutfromsemi-finishedandfinishedproducts.Thetestissuitableforthecontrolofproductionandmanufacturedproductsaswellasforacceptanceorrejectiontestingunderspecificationsforsemi-finishedandfinishedproducts,providedthatithasbeendemonstratedthatthedataforaparticularmaterialareacceptablyreproducible.Thereisnodirectlinearrelationshipbetweentearingforceandspecimenthickness.Datafromthismethodareexpressedastearingforceinnewtons,withspecimenthicknessalsoreported.Onlydataobtainedatthesamethicknessshouldbecomparedbecausesetsofdatafromspecimensofdissimilarthicknessaregenerallynotcomparable.
